This is the Napa Cabbage Salad I’ve been making over and over again. How easy it is to go together, it’s so delicious, and the sesame seeds in the seasoning will keep you back more!

It’s hard for me to fall for this cabbage salad, and I think you will, too. I’ve been looking for the super easy, quick play side, and this napa cabbage salad with garlic and sesame is hitting it in the park.

This is indeed a light dish. Just a quick massage of toasted sesame oil, grated garlic and salt will reward you with sweet, toast and delicious salad. It goes very well with barbecue, chicken and seafood and I especially like dishes that are meaty or umami, such as grilled steaks and pork chops made with this pork marinated.

  • Napa cabbage: I love cabbage, and many of the cabbage recipes we have can be seen, but napa cabbage has a special place in my heart. Its feet are lighter and crisper on the feet, making it an incredibly refreshing foundation for salads.
  • Sesame oil and sesame seeds: I love the deep toast bread that toast with sesame oil for salads. It brings a rich, nutty flavor, which makes it very difficult to stop eating! To really tilt the sesame seeds, we also threw some toasted sesame seeds.
  • Garlic and green onion: A finely grated diced garlic clove in the cabbage adds a lot of flavor, but don’t worry, it won’t overwhelm the salad. The natural sweetness of the cabbage stands up nicely on the original garlic, and the toasted sesame oil is perfectly sliced. I also like to slice green onions for more flavor and color.
  • Salt and pepper: These are obvious, but salt does help make our cabbage taste incredible. You will massage it into the cabbage, so it helps to soften the cabbage and make it taste more like cabbage.

It’s hard to stop eating this napa cabbage salad with toasted sesame oil and garlic. Think of it as an easy and soft side, perfect for tasty, delicious dishes like grilled steak, grilled pork chops, teriyaki chicken, my favorite grilled tofu or grilled swordfish. This salad will never be overpressed! Instead, it adds a lovely crisp, savory fresh bite that does really go well with a lot of stuff. While Napa Cabbage is perfect for this recipe, feel free to substitute other cabbage if you have something on hand.

You will need

Half a big head napa cabbage, about 1 pound, sliced ​​about 8 cups

3 tablespoons sesame seeds

1½ tablespoons toasted sesame oil or more flavor

1 medium garlic clove, finely ground, about 1/4 tsp grated

1/4 teaspoon fine sea salt or more

1/4 teaspoon fresh black pepper

2 green onions, sliced

    1Prepare cabbage: Remove the core of the cabbage. Cut the longitudinal direction into 1-inch ribbons and then cut the transverse direction into 1-inch thick pieces. Rinse under cool water and pat dry or dry with a salad rotator (wet cabbage will water under the salad).

    2Roasted Sesame Seeds: Add sesame seeds to a small skillet on medium-low heat and toast, stirring frequently until golden and aroma is 2 to 4 minutes. Pay close attention to them as they can burn quickly.

    3Make salad: In a large bowl, add cabbage, toasted sesame seeds, 1½ tablespoons toasted sesame oil, ground garlic, 1/4 teaspoon salt, 1/4 teaspoon black pepper and thin green onion. Put everything together and toss it all until it is combined. Taste and adjust with more salt or sesame oil if needed. When the cabbage is massaged and sat with salt, it decreases in size.
