Grape Ice Cream – Red Meal in the Kitchen

Cream and sweet, this grape ice cream is an unexpected delight on a hot summer afternoon. If you loved grape popsicles as a kid, this ice cream is a nostalgic flavor bomb.


A few weeks ago, I was making a recipe for grape ice cream when I shared nerd ice cream with you. Thanks to a great reader’s advice (hi Tim!), I finally have an amazing new ice cream.
After trying to make grape-flavored ice creams with grape juice, soda and even snow cone syrup and not like those ice creams at all, I made this batch of ice creams with a batch of simple grape koolaid. What’s the difference!

Grape ice cream
This ice cream tastes like glucose to ice cream, and I’m glad to tell you that even this non-grape girl loves it. And the glucan lovers of my life? Oh man, this ice cream is a huge blow.
I began to wonder if we would find an ice cream we wanted to share with you, but is that? This is a huge success. If you like grape-flavored snacks, you might be flipping this ice cream.

Serve: 4 Serving (about 1 quart)

In a medium bowl, stir together the cream, milk, sugar, kool-aid powder, salt and vanilla extract. Pour the mixture into an ice cream maker and process according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

Serve soft ice cream immediately, or transfer the finished ice cream to an airtight container and place it in the refrigerator until ready to serve.
